[Home] :: [Support] :: [Internet Configuration] LMi.net Windows 2000 Setup1. Open the Internet Options control panel. (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Internet Options) 2. Click the tab at the top labeled "Connections". 3. Click the "Setup" button to run the Internet Connection Wizard. 4. Select the third option "I want to set up my Internet connection manually..." Press NEXT. 5. Select the first option "I connect through a phone line and a modem". Press NEXT. 5b. If you have more than one modem installed, you will now be asked to select a modem. Do so and click NEXT. 6. Type in the telephone number which is local to you. (see chart) 7. Uncheck "Use area code and dialing rules" if the area code is the same as the one you are in. Press NEXT. 8. Enter your username and password. These were the two items you specified on your signup agreement. 9. Give your connection a name (such as "LMi.net.") Press NEXT. 10. You have now configured your dial-up connection. If you want to now configure Outlook Express to access your LMi.net email account, then press NEXT when you see "Set up your internet mail account". 11. Enter a Display name, which would typically be you full name, then press NEXT. 12. Type your email address. This is <username>@lmi.net. If your username is "bob" for instance, your email address would be bob@lmi.net. Press NEXT. 13. In the slot labeled "incoming mail server", type "pop.lmi.net".In the second slot labeled "outgoing mail server", type "smtp.lmi.net". Press NEXT. 14. Under "Account name" enter the login name that you wrote on your application. This is always all lowercase. Under "Password" enter your password (this is case sensitive!). Check Remember password if you wish, then press NEXT. 15. If you want to connect immediately, check the box. Click Finish. Voila! You're done. Double-Click on "Internet Explorer" to surf the Web, and "Outlook Express" to access your mail. |
